Welcome to Charles Henry Terrell Academy, Augusta's first and only Fine Arts, year-round school.  We are privileged to have the opportunity to be a part of such a wonderful collection of parents, students, and teachers. Brief History:

Established in August 1982 in Augusta, Georgia, C.H.T.A. is an independent private Christian Academy with a mission of preparing students to be productive, responsible, and ethical members of today’s world.

    • C.H.T.A's 9:5:1 student to faculty ratio assures that every teacher is familiar with the individual needs of a each child. Fine and performing arts as well as foreign language are a part of each child’s program.
    • Service is one of our four core values (as well as Respect, Responsibility, and Goodness) and community service is part of our curriculum.
    • Every year, students participate in field trips.

  • Frequently Asked Questions: 

    What is the earliest age that students may enter C.H. Terrell Academy?

    Children must be five years old to enter Kindergarten on or before December 1st.

     

    What is the typical class size?

    In Kindergarten through Grade 12, there are combined classes of 8-12 students per grade.


    What are the school hours?

    Students are expected to arrive at 8:15am and be seated by 8:30am.  Dismissal is 4:15pm. 


    What other commitment do you have to diversity?

    A Diversity Strategic Plan has been written. It includes but is not limited to initiatives to recruit and retain a broad representation in the following: race, ethnicity, and gender; to achieve and maintain a leadership, faculty and staff reflective of the student population; to enhance curriculum by integrating diversity issues throughout the grades; to promote awareness of diversity issues with parents, alumni, and friends of the school, and to establish partnerships with other schools and various community organizations and business.

     

    Do students wear uniform?

    All students must wear official school uniforms and must abide by administration approved grooming specifications.

     

    Are special classes for the gifted offered?

    No, classes are small and the curriculum is enriched. It is our goal and challenge to meet the needs of each student within the classroom.
